About Me
Childproofing Your Home And Garden

When my first child had an accident at home, I realised we hadn't childproofed the house as well as we could have. Thankfully, they were fine, but I learned my lesson and began a thorough inspection of my home and garden. I got to work addressing the various hazards we had overlooked, and I started this blog to help other parents think objectively about the hazards in their own homes. I post about a variety of topics, such as pool safety, choosing a safe garden fence, storing medication and cleaning products, window and door locks and kitchen safety for kids. I hope you find my blog useful and informative.

Home Uses for an Industrial Shed

Ana Gonzales

If you have an extra industrial shed, which is a larger metal shed than the traditional storage shed, there are a lot of ways you can use it at home. While you do need a spacious backyard for this type of shed, it can provide a lot of excellent benefits for you. Consider some of these different home uses for the shed.

Gardening Equipment Storage

First of all, the industrial shed is an excellent way to store home items that don't fit in your garage, or that are not convenient in the garage. For example, you might have a lot of tools and equipment that you use for gardening, weed control, and other backyard work. These items might be placed in your garage, but that often keeps them a little too far from your yard when it comes time to use them. A better option is to keep them in a large industrial shed in your backyard so that they are always within reach.

Backyard Workshop

If you like to participate in painting, woodworking, engine rebuilding, or other types of home projects, a shed is perfect. Since they are a little larger, industrial sheds can provide a decent-sized workshop for you. Place it in a corner of your backyard that won't be disturbed by others, but that gives you access to electrical if you need to use power tools and hook up lights in the shed. You should have plenty of room for a spacious workspace and storage inside the shed.

Kids' Playroom

Are you running out of space in your home for your kids to play? If there isn't enough room in their bedrooms and the living room is getting bombarded by toys and play tents, you might want to consider setting up an industrial shed playroom. You can create an entire playhouse environment for them with different areas of the shed involving various types of toys. These sheds have ample space for a small table and chairs for crafts, storage bins for toys, and enough room for a play-sized kitchen and other play house amenities. You can work in the yard while your kids play in their new space.

Home Office

Another great idea for an industrial shed is creating a home office. Whether you run a business out of your home or bring some work home with you, it helps to have a quiet space where you can focus with minimal distractions. Sometimes, getting out of the house and going into your shed re-focuses your mind from being home to being at work.
